  • The Baobabs of Madagascar.. my interpretations of their rhythms, of what was and what is,( a thriving forest once..now a few survive.) where the past and the present collide, in a moment of the absolute truth of an orange sunset, one feels enriched and enlarged with their whispers of 1000 year old wisdom.. :)
    		 spent a few hours at a watering hole, and a few experimentts ....
    		 has the countdown begun? i shudder at this grim reality, loss of habitats,eroding landscapes,climate changes,shrinking waterbodies, as i watch this buffalo,walking into this "narrowing" scape, once a thriving wetland..teeming with life, i thought the "narrowing" frame of land, was pretty symbolic.

    Vistas as far as the eye can see scapes dotted with a single species, almost wallpaper like...
    		 steam rising up from the hot springs of lake Bogoria, form an ethereal curtain around the flamingoes.. leaves one spellbound, the beauty and the treachery, a fatal step into the boiling waters.. an odd dead bird.
    		 THE DAILY PATH NEVER ENDS..Masai tribal wisdom, and this line of swamp elephants illustrates this proverb so befittingly as they trudge their daily path to and fro to the waterholes.. arnt we all doing the same ?thinking aloud :)

    the dust never settles, a struggle for power, hierarchy, supremacy and survival.. in the savanna..and scenes like these were plenty in all species..
    		 "with the sound of music, with songs they have sung for a thousand years"...... :) :) :)
    		 an effort to depict their vanishing world,in an impressionistic style, moving away from detail and definition, empty spaces,depicting a grim future.. a matriarch stands mute witness, heart wrenching stories, of depleting numbers.

    i like doing animal portraits that show its particular character. the elegance of the long necked Gerenuk antelope,one waits to find that moment.. and CNP encourages one to see the hues and tones and colours ,much before pressing the shutter.. as i saw it...
    		 one wonders at the formations of this abundance of flamingoes? theres synchronised mooves, discipline, no one breaks lines, so much unison, wonderful watching them move in rhythm forward and back...who decides?
    		 gathering together , a level of intimacy? a show of strength? a solidarity of purpose? lessons in nature ,if only we knew where to look..

    spent some quiet time in the grasslands, before the migration madness catches on. one can never do justice to the magnificance and scale of the plains, but with no plans of how to shoot, i think intuition takes over as a scene presents itself..and experimental fervour takes over..
    		 Washed ashore,in death , This little shell speaks, of patterns of a lost life.. A richly woven tapestry of vibrant colours, Secrets of.. The deep,the blue,the sea, the wind, crashing waves, the surf, The earth , the sky, Walking in and out of this musical orchestra of colours, A visual symbol of my life,... I hear..     An autumn repose a burst of color the end is near seranaded by cascading water a bough sings its Swan song.
    		 an early morning in a Sri lankan forest, and im amongst a huddled group of toque macaques. truck after truck of logging wood pass by, a wave of collective guilt washes over me...
    		 A family of concentric circles..and my mind races..analogies?? a raindrop hitting the surface in a pond, ripples out in concentric rings.. with time layers of knowledge and experiences,ripple out in circles, make me who i am and the world there is, a point from which stories and more stories emanate..adding multiple layers of meaning, as i grow.. i reminesce about Russian matryoshka dolls i played with....a doll within a doll within a doll within...a doll.. a voluptuous flow outwards from the unconcious to the concious.....

    THE COLOURS OF CORBETT...THRU MY EYES...
    		 The Great Hornbill...graces the hour....One late evening in Corbett.. AS I CLICK...some words just flow with the moment.... :) couldnt help posting it to share my sentiments with this image... The Gift of Day has ended, and the dark night is welcomed by the Hour of Departure... I hear the Whisper of Wings alone in the shadows of the night... I reach out and touch your feathers wipe the tears from your wings i embrace all your fears... As you fly over miles on turbulent winds... To Roost in my Soul,..... THE NIGHT IS FORGIVING...
    		 im reminded of the famous sanskrit poem " Meghadoota" by Kalidasa... "begin your journey Oh Meghdoota, by sprinkling rain on this parched earth, the fragrance of wet earth will spread happiness all around" and i found it symbolic that a Dove , was racing these advancing monsoon clouds..carrying a Message from the Monsoons.. :) :)

    one more, from that memorable hour, the mini dust storm,pebbled dry river beds, the purposefull march, the matriarch, and the herds' faith, conspired to hold us spellbound..
    		 Corbett with its vast scapes tantalises and teases..a small dust storm seems magical in its colours and hues....

    		 cant help my obsession with Gaja..and here is another perspective, at the risk of being repetitive..i still have posted this version, with the feedback coming in,its a huge learning....!!!! square crop? does it work or not? Borders.? i see some large thick borders on a lot of images..and wonder what really decides whether a border should or shouldnt be there.. would be great to have some veiws ??
    		 My impressions of the forest... while i was soul searching and feeling blue.... shortlived "blues" though.. as the power of an enchanting forest takes over.. k.gudi..

    and experimenting with colours..and exposures... yet another kingfisher..but a different take...
    		 my fascination with movement continues.. as i watch this flock stay together in flight.. some lead from upfront some take their time some moveup and take new positions and the guardian angels..hover around till... Together ..they make the journey like all of us at CNP??? :)
    		 endless lines vanishing into the horizon of bare expanses, miles to go and miles to come the daily trudge, across the rann for water... domestic animals, :) but i liked the way the lines vanish into nothingness and thought i could post this in this forum.. and the title "MIlES TO GO BEFORE I SLEEP" is a reflection of how i feel about my life so much more each day.....to discover, unfurl, awaken, absorb, learn and soak...... and the line of verbs is unending....... :)

    amber and corn hues on vast expanses of bare land.. and a neelgai breaking into a joyfull run... and i heard the percussion music of drumming hoofbeats.. in the stillness of the rann..scapes...
    		 MIMICRY..thats the first thought that crossed my mind , as this pretty vine snake stayed motionless..against the leaf.. and i decided to present in black and white.to highlight the relationship..bonds in nature i guess..
    		 Bare brown endless expanses and pink skies ,colour palettes from another realm, and the dust trails....left me spellbound...

    Focussing on a bird on a tree..this Giant.. walks into my frame..quietly and stealthily a few feet away....i was struck by the "SINGULARITY"...and in a split second.. decided a slow exposure....a different perspective.... its "elephant time" on CNP this month....!!!! feedback and suggestions wanted...im Learning.. :)
    		 walking throung rainforests in the western ghats... wonderstruck by the canopy overhead..and the sunlight reveals the intricacy of this family of leaves young and old..displaying elaborate boundaries with reversal progressive ever fine recursive details..and an intriguing Fractal and self similar property ..and i think back of my own family structure...drawing parallels.... and i chose to present this stark image...wonder if it should have been softer...blurred.?thoughts please..???
    		 fascinating to watch Kites ..swoop down in a feeding frenzy on dried silkworm..and fly away into the air..with the silkworm trailing pretty lines.behind....as the sun filtered in through clouds..

    But OH...." I talk of things impossible, and cast beyond the moon"', as a child i spent hours gazing at the moon, i SAW..unicorns in pink, elephants with wings, butterflies swimming.... this image of the 4 horned ibex...for me had a sense of "deja Vu", a flashback in time many moons ago... ILLUSIONS..
