Life on Mirage
Dear Nature Lovers,
Visiting LRK is always a very special experience for me. Last time when I visited LRK, I was determined to make some different images of ‘Wild Ass’, so I decided work on grayscale.
You can always see mirage in ranns(deserts), when light is harsh during noon time. So I made this ground level image to get that feeling of ‘mirage’.
Hope that you would like this B&W image.
Kindly give your feedback on this.
Regards

This is nice, I would love to see this one as warmer image to give a feel of heat and mirage, rather than dark, just my thought. Also I am unable to how understand how there is white portion between the legs of Second Ass from left, wherein rest of the asses its' grey BG, which shows in between the legs...

Dear Vipul,
Thanks for the comment...
the white portion between the legs of second one is due a pole in BG behind it...

this is simply outstanding.. loved the slightly blown highlights and the really dark regions as well.. the fact that all of them are not looking at the camera also adds a lot to the image.. and ofcourse the lovely mirage at the bottom..

Hey Saurabh
This is amazing stuff. I've experienced distorted vision and mirage during my trip to Jaisalmer but never really tried photographing it. This is great seeing.
Thanks for sharing.

A unique image Saurabh ! B&W adds to the image in my view. I think you may try opening up the image a bit. As presented I think black seem to dominate the frame. Can you share more information on the lighting here ? More interested in reasons for darkness around.. Thanks for sharing.

Dear Gurus,
Thanks a lot for all your kind words on this image, actually I was so afraid of putting this image here on CNP. But your appreciation has inspired me to make such creative images.
Dear Ganeshsir,
This darker part around these animals is just due to the contrast adjustments only. And in the afternoon the sky was sufficiently blue and when I changed saturation on zero, it converted near to dark grey color. And I think this harsh contrast is also due to the straight sun rains in the middle of noon time. Thanks a lot once again for your valuable feedback on image.
