Dead wood
High noon is not a time for landscapes, a stump strewn backwaters of a reservoir threw up some interesting forms and shadows. There is nothing like being in the field whether at the right time or not.

this is a real 3d image.....when i look at the image for longer time i could feel space.....the shadow has created this feel i guess...looks like the log is floating in air.....amazing sir.....some how i'm not very comfortable with the border..... please see this image in full screen ..i feel the real 3d effect can then be appreciated well .....it is images like this crates excitement and make us push our limits to create new dimensions in photography....thanks for sharing sir.....

I like how the sends send the eye into the background to look at the lake and the far distant mountains, Vijay. IMO, the FG subject is not the most interesting angle in the world and here I think an inclusion of a human being sitting on the dead wood might have really made the image. Just my 2-cents ;^)

I too like the 3d feel of this ... this is an Xcellent wide angle composition and I loved it ... only thing I am thinking is if you have kept the dead log little smaller in the frame then how it would have altered the feel ! My eyes are trying to explore the vast expanse of the BG but the log is so strong that it is not able move smoothly ... May be it's my eyes but surely would love to know your thoughts on this :)

Praveen I have posted a b/w without border here http://www.indianaturewatch.net/display ... p?id=87493. Das I purposefully kept the foreground log dominant in the frame because there was no major elements like dramatic sky etc in the landscape. I want the focus to be on the form and shadow of the log.

I like the prominence of the dead wood here. For my taste buds too B&W looks better ! Thanks for sharing VMR.

I agree with you VMR, noon or not, it works if one can "See" :-) I much prefer the B&W version. The Andamans is a good place to do these driftwood type of pics . But, I had visited Andamans just before the tsunami. The B&W version has much more impact.

What an amazing image !!! I like both the colour as well as the BW, love the shadows, the wooden form, and the vastness in the image. The 3d feel is just too good for me. I feel that many experimental images could be made around this one subject at various times, angles and using different lens. May be you have them, and I would love to see them all :).

Like the feel in the image. Makes you feel as I am standing next to it :-). I like this version more than the B&W
