S C A L E !
Human is so small in front of Nature. Yet he boasts himself to have conquered it! How foolish!

This image was made last weekend when I visited one of my favorite places in Western Ghats - Kodachadri. Such a wonderful place it is. This time the drama that unfolded in front of our eyes was hard to believe! First it was totally white, completely covered in thick mist. But as the time went by, Nature bestowed us with its beauty in full scale. In any of my previous visits there I had not seen anything like this!

Those two tiny specs on the top of the mountain are in fact two friends! Composed the image when they stood up and included them to give the sense of scale.
I have cloned out a thin transmitter tower which is situated nearby on the hill top.

Loved it! Absolutely mesmerized by the sheer enormity of the nature around those lucky two. I have always enjoyed your pics which play with the theme of scale. I also remember of an earlier picture you made with the similar concept. The beauty of this picture is that you would not notice the presence of the two humans unless you are told, till then its just another landscape picture with pretty light and soft fluffy clouds. But when you do realize the relatively insignificant presence of the human elements, the picture quickly transforms from a landscape of pretty visuals to a landscape of powerful and insignificant emotions! Simply put, I loved it!! :)

Having been to Kodachadri a few times in past, I can exactly understand/relate to your feelings about this place. This is one amazing sight only justified when seen in real (with one's own eyes). I liked ur exposure here - very close to how it actually looks.
Thanks for sharing this lovely image Ashwini.

Hey Ashwin this is great stuff. I just put the cursor on the two human figures and then immediately drew it back and lo! it was like uncovering a mammoth. Great thinking and sharp focus on the human forms have pulled it our very well.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice perspective here Ashwin. I like the fact that those four pixels can clearly portray people on the top of the mountain !! Thanks for sharing..

Sublime yet powerful composition Ashwini. Depection of scale has been impeccable. I have a minor suggestion ( I do no know your situation while composition this frame ) and that for some reason it gives me a feeling that right side of the frame is too heavy. It might be because, when the clouds right at the center of the frame is pulling my eyes and to the left since my eyes can't see anything, it gives me a eerie feeling of presence of a deep valley and I tend to look at the left of the frame. This is just how I felt, not sure about others. That apart, I love this frame - let me know if you have taken a print of it and I would love to see it!

How I would have composed this frame - I would have kept the people on top right of the frame and the mountain would have receeded to the end of the frame by about 3 inches before the left edge - hope I am making some sense here.

Thanks friends for your encouragement...
Pramod...yes your suggestion is very valid and I think the composition that you are describing may produce a fine one too... Thanks for that... I have another image which comes close to what you are describing but that doesn't have this wide feel...for keeping the same wide feel and composing as you have mentioned I should have tilted my camera downwards and slightly including some portions on the right as well. I am not sure if that was bringing in the rock in front of me where I was standing...That might or that might not...given another chance I would try it out... :) Thanks....
