Simplicity | Back to Basics
With passage of time things change so much in photography that - We start with subjects as small spec in the frame and as days go by we tend to go closer to subject. A person who used to go mm away from the subject to get hair/feather counting details now goes back and tries to use wideangle lens to get a different perspective. When i started taking macro images few years back i was always keen on getting closeups. This inturn meant i invested in time and money on extension tubes and lens of larger focal lenghts for better magnification and new techniques. Last week i forced myself to see the macro world without extension tube and should i say the view was totally different. Though it not necessarily mean that we should use a wider focal lenght to make macro scapes - the usage of the existing 50 or 100 mm can def give a different feel to the images if backed out appropriately ( Just my opinion ).

It was intentional to blow out a bit of highlights in this image which i feel makes the eye get attracted towards it also it sort of gives a nice feel in the B&W perspective ( to be posted in Illustration forum ). Angle of light was another main thing i had to concentrate on this image. A bit of fill flash to add a pop in the end.

Love to know your views on this.

Very true Shiv, I think it is more of a "spiral" than "circle" - we start with wider perspectives initally, not because we wanted it that way just because we could not afford long teles (I speak for myself however). Over the years we go through the "portraits" face and get bored and then come back to wide angle perspectives. Important to note is when we come back to wide angle the perspective that we strive for is different than what we started with using wide angle - that is what I call "spiral" than "circle" - we don't get back to the same point !
Nice image here - fill flash makes the image. I would consider a bit of less sharpening. Thanks for sharing..

This is exactly what we discussed the other nite, remember ? Spend all the money in the money to get the sharpest of images and then we use all techniques to blur out images keeping gears on a platform for making images sharp :) The mind adjusts to achievements very fast and then starts looking for further possibilities. In the process the images we create art, cos unable to make sharp images and creating blurs in images to our desire are two separate aspects.

Spiral it is! Using a long tele is a rarity for me these days. Once it hits hibernationm it takes atleast a month to wake up and can go up to 3-4 months! Anyways, this is a beautiful image. Love the back lighting. My eyes oscillates between the perch and the fly. Nicely engages my attention.
