even though its an elephant and tht too right in the middle, my eye still wanders around and not able to settle on the anchor point..
maybe its just me :).. having said tht, a different composition(placing elephant in 1/3 space) would make it a regular image..

It looks fantastic Ganesh. The myna is small but love the way it captures the attention in the frame. BTW Ganesh with images like these do you modify the white balance during post processing or leave it at Auto WB all the time. Would be nice to know your thoughts.

Mahesh, I don't touch white balance at all during post processsing (99% of the time). Only time I think it needs tweaking is during very late evenings (after sunset) in Nikon cameras that I use.

Ganesh, this image does not work for me.
Perhaps my mind is (has got) polluted over past few years to view 'aesthetics' as 'rule-of-thirds'.
The centered composition do work many a times but not for this frame IMHO.
Probably the centered comp might have worked if mynas weren't there (as they tilt the balance now).

I love the greens the expression of the elephant and its association with the mynas. Somehow, I feel am not matured enough to accept the 'centered' placement of the elephant ;-). I know you wouldn't have done it without a reason. Nice experiment though. Would love to know your very thought of such a composition?

Thanks friends for your views, Yes, as you guessed it right centered composition was by design. I wanted to emphasize the expanse of the grassland and give some weight and scale to the image by placing the elephant at center. I felt off center composition is weaker (for my taste buds) in this case.

This composition to me is a very strong statement. any other positioning would have been meek, I feel!
