Habits in a Habitat - The sea shore
Continuing with the series...
Wide angle macros are so much fun to make and with the right subject we can get some pretty interesting compositions. I saw this crab that morning burrowing into the sand making its hideout and after a couple of conventional tight macros, I decided to try out a wide angle to place the crab and its burrow in context with its habitat. It was a slow and cautious approach to position myself in such a way to have the sea showing up in the frame, as I was initially pointed away from the beach. The crab was just as curious about me as I was of it and there was a point when it came out and almost felt the glass of my lens with its pinchers. It was a very memorable experience watching this chap for about 30 mins that morning.

Thanks for looking

Awesome image Harsha! Loved the feel of it. The setting, the popped out eye, the burrow, the dug out sand, the beach and the waves...loved each of the elements...fantastically composed!

Great feel here, I would love to see one with those pincers close to the lens even though it may not be sharp. This is one image which gives a feeling of being there.

I think lack of depth (of field) in the upper regions of the frame adds to the depth of the image !! Smaller web version does not do justice to frames like this. Make a large print.. Thanks for sharing Harsha..

VMR sir, how I wished I had the image you are referring to. I was already at MFD for this image and the second the crab came close to the lens to feel it, the lens started hunting and the whirr in the lens scared it away and I was left with no image :(

Wish you had a W I D E angle macro lens. Nevertheless this is a fabulous image. I loved the feel since the time I saw this in your camera. I saw how you were lying flat for a long long time! Fantastic effort and a great image conceived. Great going.
