The Color of Night
You need to experience a dark night to realize the power of Black. It overshadows everything. Nothing prevails under this cover and all conventional beauty is lost. But is it just not another form of nature? Why then are we so scared of it? What is the purpose of having so much black in this cosmos if we are not ready accept it?

Fair point Harsha. My thoughts are couple of things make it very difficult for photographers - first the dynamic range. Our eyes at night can see far far more intensity levels and nuances than the ccd/cmos sensors can ever record. 90% of that glory of night is lost due to technological limitation. Secondly, at night we see vast universe in front of us not just 1000 pixels in its longest side :) It is a real challenge to portray that mood. May be the second limitation can be overcome to some extent by a large print. Nice job on framing it black to show the contrast of the sky here. Thanks for sharing.

This is such a path breaking image, I wonder why we cannot see this awesome black. I think Ganesh has given a few explanations but to put it in a simpler way we are far too lazy and we consider anything dark as dangerous.

Harsha, this is wonderful execution.
Well, my understanding on black is 'what our eyes cannot see', and now how do we see black that we want ?

Harsha, beautiful portray of Night.
I guess fear of the dark and the dangers that it brings is one of the factors that stops us.

This is high impact image about darkness and night sky. One of the best images I have seen, just perfect stars and tree.
I agree with Ganesh 100%, human (or may be other animals) eyes can see far far than today electronic sensor to record and the best part is without "noise". Living beings used to light are scared of darkness and vice versa. It's just the nature as you said.
