Leaf and Light
Hi All,
My first post. A brief intro. I mostly do B and W photography. Used to the Analog and dark room at one time. Moved to Digital now. But learning and enjoying the same approach and controls in digital as well.

I love to depict the play of light and textures in nature.

All my pics are single shot images. No elements removed or added. No cloning (except one dust spot on my sensor :) if visible in image )

I do manage contrast with curves and masks in CS 2. But not unlike a wet Darkroom playing around with Characteristic curves and dodging and burning in.

Appreciate and respect the Philosophy of this forum. Will try to stick to its ethos.
Thanks for stopping by
Regards
Rajkumar

Nice play of light here, Rajkumar. IMHO, pulling back the highlights on the leaf a bit (1/3stop or so) would soften it and would enhance appeal of the image. I found the black band on the leaf at top left distracting. I do understand your take on cloning and respect it. Hence I am not suggesting to clone it but wanted to make that observation as it did coming in the way of viewing. Welcome aboard and TFS.

Welcome to CNP Rajkumar, hope you will enjoy participating here.

Play of light is nice here and the details in the shaded region add to the image. Couple of things would have improved in my view - may be another leaf without the small stick (?) and a bit more sharper rendition would have added further.

Rajkumar,
Welcome to the forum. Making black and white images in darkroom with red lamp is totally different experience and an art itself. I loved the whole process including the sepia toning. An image developed in darkroom has more than 100 yrs of life. Coming to the image, I like the highlighted portion of leaf as compared to details in the shaded areas. Love to see more B&W images from you in future.

Thanks all.
@ Ramesh and Ganesh- Yes the black band is a piece of hay / twig stuck with the dew. Did not want to disturb a as found object. But agree does not add much to the image.
Thanks Shankar- Frankly having a good experience in the digital world as well. Even though started on a skeptical note. Except for the smell of Hypo and joy of seeing a pic emerge in the developer.

Rajkumar, You are right on Hypo and other chemicals. Need plenty of water get Hypo out of your hand/finders and that smelly Sodium Sulfide for Sepia processing. In my opinion digital darkroom still in evolution stage from Camera sensors to post processing.
