Illusions of freedom
One evening, after the sun went down, faint light in the west prevailed. After a while, since it was clear day the dispersion effect created the most 'coolest' ( in terms of white balance ) atmosphere near the lake. All the egrets took off and my camera started to hunt ! At F9.0 the shutter was flapped at 1/15 of the second. Could have shot at F2.8 having a prime lens and would have shown it's power but I would have killed the mood and emotions I witnessed.

Emphasized on the blue channel during B&W processing to go high key with 'pencil sketch' effect. Have I attained what I wanted - Yes or am I under the illusion that I have rendered what I intended?!

Would love to hear your thoughts and critiques on the image.

You would be the best judge to know what you wanted to achieve :-). I love these kind of images a lot, for me there's no wish you had more shutter speed or even slower etc. These images speak of freedom to me. Quite happy with the processing too.

Class .. Grains, Chaos, Patterns, Tones - everything make this image special for me.
Any chance of playing a bit easy on the border it looks way too dominant for the image.
But really loved it.

Grains have made the image Pramod. As said, may be border is dominating.

Love the effect that you have got here Pramod.
Did you try cloning out the blurs at the left edge of the frame and see how it looks.
My only nit is that the image merges with the border at the top edge.

Thanks all for your inputs.

Dear Prithvi,

Thanks for your advice but cloning is something that I stay away from it. My philosophy of photography hovers around certain limitations and I don't intend to add / remove anything from the frame except for the creative cropping :). I understand this is a debatable topic and my intention here is not to offend / hurt anyone. It is just my way of working :).

Cloning for me is acting against the very existence of the living being itself. I am only human and definitely not as powerful as the creation itself (or God if you would refer to) and hence I don't intend to remove it from the frame :)

Best!

A dreamy image Pramod..
I can dream myself flying freely with my buddies looking at this image :)
At times ordinary subjects yields extraordinary visuals... just that we have to look for them.. Well seen and presented :)

I love the graininess and the charcoal on paper effect achieved here. Thanks for sharing :) I'll remember this one for quite a while.

Hi Pramod,
You have my dear you have succeeded in bringing out the desired effect. One suggestion if I may.. There are two dark birds on the top. The one on the right is ok. The other one, on the left which leads my eye out of the frame is trifle too dark and sort of fixes my eye rather than leave the frame in the direction of flight. You may try and lighten this one out along with the streaks over its top.
Thanks for sharing

Excellent image Pramod. My only wish being those cropped birds on the edges were missing. Make a large print and frame it !

The movement in this image - and the white on white really makes this image. Again, something that just came up on my Random Reveals. and it was a treat. it has a dry brush feel to it and really appeals to the calligrapher/ sketcher in me.

thanks,
A
