A Landscape that Dwarfed Elephants
Every year hundreds of elephants gather around Sri Lanka's many water tanks during the dry season. This image was made at one such gathering in Kaudulla National Park, Sri Lanka in August 2011. Just as the sun sank, the clouds stole the show and completely dwarfed the main act: the elephants.

I love this frame and all those from your SL collection Arati. Picture perfect representation of how small either we humans or the massive pachyderms are in front of Mother nature.
On the technical side of the image ... i am just guessing that you might have used Silvere Efex Pro for this one. A combination of lifting in Shadows + Red filter before applying the tint would have brought in some more amount of contrast esp in the cirrus clouds. You might want to give a try and post it for reference in the Illustration forum.
TFS and before i hit submit - Very warm welcome to CNP

Welcome to CNP Arati !

Nice opening image here. Sky is dramatic and nice B&W conversion. Couple of things probably improve this further I think - Not sure whether you cropped the image at the bottom, leaving a few more pixels would add I guess. I think sharpening a bit more would emphasize the elephants nicely.
Thanks for sharing. Hope you will enjoy this forum..

Thanks guys, you have a good thing going here. And thank you for the thoughtful and helpful comments. I did indeed crop it, Ganesh. Will try and incorporate yours and Shiva's inputs and rework the image :)

Welcome to CNP, very nice opening image. The landscape truly takes over the scene here. Never seen such a image from Sri Lanka. I would love to see this one in color as well.

Lovely! The wide open scape and the fluffy clouds add very well to the dwarfed elephants. The BW processing adds well to the mood.

Arati, Warm Welcome to CNP ! Beautiful image to start with. Spotlight effect on elephants along with wide spread sky makes an image for me. I love those clouds. Look forward to see more images. Hope you will enjoy CNP forum.
