This is a wonderful series Ganesh. One of the best series I have seen in recent times. What a set!!
From the centuries 'pain' has become one of the main sources of inspiration for artists of different genre. In the performance arts like Yakshagana or Bharathanatyam, Shokha rasa is one of the captivating and famous rasa.
In the field of literature also pain ( Here I am using the word pain in a larger context. It may be death of near ones, frustration towards society or system, not being able to do what ones want to do, or any kind of problems) has inspired many writers. I remember reading an article by famous Kannada poet "Why poverty should/ will be the subject for my literature?".
It said one of the greatest painters of our time Vincent Van Gogh was suffering from schizophrenia. He was admitted to hospital also. One of the famous drama writer in Kannada- Samsa was also suffering from a phobia, he was thinking that he was spied by British and always lived in shadows.
Even in the field of photography also many have attempted to portray their inner pain through their photos. Especially photo montage and digital art artists have done notable work in this direction.
In my little study I have noted very a few nature photographers have attempted to show their inner pain through their images. May be I have not studied vastly, my knowledge is very limited in this regard. But we, nature photographers tend to show the grandeur of nature. Is it because by the very basic purpose of nature photography i.e. documentation of what we saw? Is it because we disconnect our inner emotions from the mother nature while we shoot and just see the beauty of nature? Or is it the way to forget our pain? We try to shoot in early or late hours to get the gorgeous light and make our photo look very beautiful. And very few attempts have been made to reflect our emotions through nature photography. I am not saying this is right or wrong. This is just my observation, may be I am wrong.
I consider this series as one of the path breaking and revolutionary series.
I would like to hear from other members.
