Sultan
One night at Sultan (FRH, Dhikala range), he came by to visit. Huge, giant of a tusker with beautiful arcs of white. And then, silently sashaying, into the darkness he disappeared. An image of that memory was nothing but a prayer in the feeble guesthouse light. I held my breath, leaned against a door, willed every muscle and sinew to hold steady while i squeezed the shutter.

arati....having been present at this moment...i love the way u have translated this simple experience into an intriguing image..like the off centre placement and the inclusion of the tree trunk....very very unique perspective.

Hi Arati,
Is it natural light? Do i see something of a flash here? or am I seeing things :)
Thanks for sharing

HI Nirlep, no, no flash - only the remnants of the guesthouse light and a faint throw of the torch of the cook (more on the ground than on the elephant).

Arati torch light on the ground and the elephant has taken away the mood here. Do you have one without it? would love to see and compare.
Thanks

An interesting perspective here Arati. Love that elliptic posture in feeble light. Just a bit more contrast on the elephant might add further ? Thanks for sharing.

Arati I like this one better. A little more contrast on the elephant would be great as Ganesh said. How to bring about selective contrast on the elephant especially when it's sorrounded by similar if not identical tones..this is what is on my mind. Further this shot has something i'm not able to place right now.
Thanks once again

hehehe, Nirlep - you asked the exact question i was going to pose to Ganesh in an email: "How to bring about selective contrast on the elephant especially when it's surrounded by similar if not identical tones..this is what is on my mind."

Will be curious to know what you see in this shot that you cannot place...
Thanks both of you, for an excellent interaction, and learning experience.
