Herd and Haze
Haze remained for 2 plus days in Corbett NP, besides there was dust storm on one of the noons. Herd was returning after short bath in the evening.

A sophisticated image, this, Shankar... calm, poised, everything in just the right proportion, and evocative of the scale of the place. I saw it seconds after you posted it and it took my breath away. decided to give myself time and return. This morning again, same effect. This is sophisticated.

Thank you,
A

Added on an nth visit: I loved the way the trees in the background echoed the shapes and sizes of the elephants... trees and elephants, two wonderfully spiritual beings for us... Once again... lovely, lovely capture!!

The patterns of backs with tails suspended in time in various postures makes this for me Shankar. Scale portrayed is a pleasing attribute too. Thanks for sharing.

None of them are looking back. Looks as if they have a long journey to finish. Lovely mood in this image

Shankar...its all been said ...my thoughts have been echoed..before i get to this image....

as a beginner ..u guys are setting standards for us to strive towards.... and the road ahead is steep and long ..on the learning curve in this creative quest... but the fun is in the journey....

and the charm of this i find is the perspective of "swishing tails..each in a different position.". .evoking emotion alongside the mist and haze.. the scale of the landscape that dwarfed the giants.... love this one.

I have seen this image a few times before posting my comment. I guess this is Kazi. The scale is what impresses me here, the wagging tails tell a story. One would appreciate this image more than its current form if printed on a large canvas/paper. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you all !
I was doing short video and I immediately switched to DSLR when I realised through the video cam screen that this scene will make good still image :-) . As you can see there three families in this herd.

Arati, Those dull tree are the exact reason for my decision to make this image apart from plain sky and patchy elephas :-)

Vikram, This is Corbett NP. I have updated my comments under the image. I completely agree that I need print big to appreciate more.

This is picture perfect.
The misty mood, 3 families, the carefree walking posture and the calling woods at distance.
TFS Shankar.

Fabulous work! With a relatively brighter center and a cool vignette, it has given a mood of a long but focused journey by the herd.. And yes, it's the scale that is really working here!

Excellent image Shankar. Love the ambience and mood it creates, dream image made in dreams. Congrats and thanks for sharing..

On a note aside: How about creating a triptych from this single image. I imagined crop of just single family vertical images and ended up on a triptych out of this. Print this image how ever one wants and it will be great in all possible permutations/combinations :) ( for example, a pano on the lower part would also do wonders).

Very fascinating picture Shankar Sahaab,.... this picture jump starts the deep rooted desire to return to wilderness ...... I get a warm feel of the earth which conquers a hidden coldness.
