Thirst, literally and figuratively - of the calf for the protection and nurture of Mother.

Unlike Indian elephants, Sri Lankan elephant mothers are less spooked by a jeep. IF IF IF you stand there and dont rev up the engine at the first sign of aggression, that is. and so, if you are calm, they relax. and they surround you on their way to the water... and they keep doing their thing... like this baby suckling, feet away from me.

it is a very special experience.

A special experience indeed. I think a vertical composition cutting the space on right and the one on left would make it more abstract and make it more open to interpretation. A definite B&W candidate.

hi mahesh, hey been a while...
i actually have that crop too :) then i undid it and went with this one... i liked the hint of the outside of the left leg of the mom, with the hair etc... but yes, the former would keep it more abstract.
