The subtle highlights work very well in defining the face. It surely needs special eyes to find something like this in nature..

looks like the glacial fields of a mountainous landscape to me...seen from high up you can see the cracks and fissures in the mountainside, and where the glaciers meet the scree fields. the orange fungus on the white looks just like the orange fungus seen growing on snow fields. Well done and just goes to show that beauty does lie in the eye of the beholder..we all see what we want to see.

I too for a moment felt it was an aerial view of a landscape of mountains and snow . Probably how Erin has described does not go with our experience of seeing nature with snow and mountains and colors which are found in such habitat. I know your attempt has been entirely different,but am liking this image more by imagining it to be a aerial view of a beautiful scape.

I think, i am getting the theme of these set of images. Your initial words in the first image are making me see these images with more curiosity.
