At first i felt the bright spot on the bottom right a bit distracting, but after watching the frame for a while, the bright spot just goes to the background and the water streaks dominate it (hope that made sense :)).. the streaks looks like so many things i have seen artifically(sparks, fireworks, water fountains etc), but they pale in comparison to this depiction in nature.. im in love with this one and a great creation as always Sir.. i would like to see another variation of this with the neck bent, so as to not give the clue of what bird/animal it is.. that i feel would make the mind wander even more :)

Extremely dramatic image!!! Just wondering how it would look on a huge print!! TFS GaneshAnna...

Ganshi, I downloaded the image and was trying out various crops :-). Somehow felt the bottom splash could go....what do you think ? Really looks like the impression of a Darter within fireworks. Wonderful execution.

Hi Ganesh,
i love the arc of the neck up to the bird's left wing. The lower right bright part i would forego, if this were my image ... keeping the image to the top 2/3rds and the left 2/3rds ... :) just me ... love the effect of the water - reminded me of this image from the winning images last year ... only yours has so much more action!

Nilanjan & Arati, I agree with you both on the lower part of the frame since it breaks the pattern. In fact even in the upper part I didn't like the horizontal strips. I did try cropping the bottom part but then it did not appear as good as the square composition - so decided to go with I what I got..

Hi Ganesh, I really love the effects of water being splashed around, gives a fireworks feel. As Nilanjan pointed out I tired some crops to avoid the bottom right bright spot but it hardly represents the territorial fight. I guess you must have worked out all combinations before arriving at this image. Thanks for sharing.

Agree with Sriram, first I thought it was "fireworks". Very nicely brought out indeed ! More "standard" rendition from you for a change :-)
