In this thread I discussed about my in-sufficient knowledge of colors and the need for experimentation to understand it better. On a similar topic, here is the color version of the above image. See how losing the dimension of color changes the mood. We lose the sense of time in B&W. Is it good ? It depends..

Image

For my senses B&W creates a kind of philosophical pleasant mood while the color is one is a evokes straight forward happy notes. Since I lost the notion of time in B&W, one variable is gone from the mind - the tree now may become destination more stronger than the role it plays in the color version. Just my thoughts, would love to know your views..

I think simplification of an image and processing decisions needs deeper introspections - may be a life long learning..

As always, lyrical composition from you. For some reason this composition reminds me of your creations during 2006-2008. You created some amazing bird portraits with "hint of twigs", "Hint of leaves" kinds of images if you connect with what I am saying here!

Those were the times I was simply consuming all your images with awe, not that I don't now. But your creations have matured by time and I take more time to slow down and comprehend a bit more than usual to understand your intent behind your creations. I wish to see you get back with more color images like before :)

Beautiful crop here Ganshi. The placement of the peacock and the branches on two ends with so much of space in between speaks the story of a journey of the feathered wings. The monochrome is more appealing for me. Nice image.

Before seeing the name I thought it's RD's image.
Two images evoke completely two different moods. Monochrome evokes kind of sad- may be because it's more towards grey/ black, where as color makes me happy.
Choice , as you said, depends upon what we want.

the posted monochrome image reminds me of a poem maybe by Kalidasa. (Dont ask me why, but i have come back to this image several times and each time felt the same!) There is some story there, something happening. loved the image immediately.
thank you ganesh!

A crop of my liking Ganesh. Is it just colors that change the mood ? We can keep debating about this i guess. In this image, i liked the monochrome.

Both the images have a nice feel to them. "Loosing the sense of time" in an image.... its an interesting concept, have never heard of it articulated till now (even though may have experienced the feel).

Graphic one Ganesh. Love the sense of the "moment" and anticipation of the next

Art is about what is inside rather than what is outside

Hi Ganesh, well illustrated with two different emotions. I personally prefer the color, I think it brings out positivity in life. The B&W has its own emotions, as you mentioned I relate it to dullness but not sadness (from my point of view) Color of-course brings about the change in mood but not necessarily only happy or positive tones as you have shown in your thread. Such image comparisons make us learn / unlearn about the life in general, thanks for sharing.
