Ramesh, while this is a good portrait of the bird, i believe we have come far far away from such images in this forum. Don't you think so ?

If it were a bird sitting on a stick, I wouldn't have posted it here. This is here because of one reason: simplification by de-cluttering the foreground mass of dry twigs. It softened the subject, background and light - overall enhancing its beauty. Of course that simplification also took away the ground realities and gave it a yet another bird portrait feel:( Fine. For now, enjoy the beauty.

i believe we have come far far away from such images in this forum. Don't you think so ? hmmm..... I tend to agree with both Ramesh and RD. We have come far away agreed but a simple image like this is disarming really for it stands out as an exception. I find it interesting how aesthetics get shaped and re-shaped.

Love the glow here and soft light here Ramesh. Reminds me of "Glow of Hope" by S. L. Haldankar..

Art is about what is inside rather than what is outside

vermeer painted scenes with a single window as a light source. known for his use of certain color pigments, yes, but mostly for the use of light in his work. almost all his paintings have the "glow" ... this image? with that background? it reminds me of a vermeer. it is beautiful to me. in and of itself.thanks ramesh!

Glow and tones makes the image for me.. This looks more like a painting than photograph to me too.

Ramesh, ive struggled with my own thoughts..."bird on stick" kind or not...
there is something special here...and i like it a lot...almost all has been said, which sets it apart from the usual bird pictures.. lovely image.

fabulous light and tones in this image Ramesh, and such a soothing glow around the bird.. it looks like a studio setup, with a very co-operative bird :)

thank you for sharing!

Thanks all for your views and comments.

Nirlep, appreciate your balanced take on this. I firmly believe that aesthetics as a form of expression in any creative endeavor will never go away. As you rightly said, it can get shaped and reshaped.

Ganesh and Aarti, you have been very generous in your comparisons. It is both scary and humbling at the same time.
