Let me check Antares
This is my favorite photograph of the two-day outing, where we ventured out, far from the light polluted cities, to observe and capture Milky Way Galaxy at Simha Farms. Towards the top right, you can see the power of Jupiter, with a couple of moons, dazzling up the dark skies like a diamond. The yellowish star towards the left, is Antares, which is the fifteenth brightest star in the night sky. It belongs to the Scorpius constellation and it might become a supernova anytime in the near future. Towards the right of Antares, there’s one more yellowish type star. It is M4, a globular cluster which is about 7200 light years away from Earth.
.
.
The most interesting part and the reason why I mentioned that this is my favorite photo is because of the yellow dotted line in the right bottom corner of the picture. Ever since I saw Shankar Mahadevan’s ‘Man Mandira’ video from Katyar Kaljat Ghusli, a Marathi musical film, I eagerly wanted to see a firefly in the wild. When everyone were busy shooting Milky Way, I spotted this beautiful Firefly coming towards me and I badly wanted to capture it along with the stars. Since we all were shooting with longer shutter speeds, I managed to capture this beautiful firefly’s trail in the photograph, which is visible as a yellow dotted line at the bottom corner of the picture, moving towards the center.
.
And Ansel Adams rightly says - "You don’t take a photograph, you make it."

Thanks to CNP, I had the pleasure of meeting Aditya Biloor at Simha Farms. This image is dedicated to him :)

Lovely image Ashwin. At first i thought it was Orion Nebula at the top right corner. To me, there is a life lesson in the fire fly trail, the way its etched in the grand night canvas. Will remember this image for a long time. TFS.

Excellent image Ashwin. That frail trail makes it for me. Different kinds of lights there in the picture. All makes it philosophic. Thanks for sharing.
