Eyes - another perspective
I visited the same pond for some frog photography again at Ramanagar last Saturday. Earlier I had posted an image I made at the same place a week before. Thinking about how to create some different feel, this time I tried some natural burning to emhasize beautiful eyes of the frog here. The technique used is quite simple, I used my left hand, folded my fingers to make a circle to create some shade around the frog and released shutter using my right hand. Somehow liked the effect I got here - love to know your views..

I am convinced that lots of simple ideas can be used to make our images original and interesting.

Ganesh, as usual another successful image. The buring orbs of the eyes work well here. I'm just curious about whether you used flash. In any event the technique, "simple" as you term it, has worked well. I'm also amazed that the frog stayed around when you did this, how come it didn't submerge :-) Perhaps it knew it was going to be a star!

No flash usage here Apana ! If we approach them very slowly they seem to stay back..

Beautiful image Ganesh and indeed very creatively done. I see a bit of posterization happening just below the mouth of the frog. Something got to do with JPEG conversion I suppose?

The folding fingers has surely worked in bringing about the burning effect.
Agree with Pramod on the artifacts. I see it around the bordering areas of the bright & burnt regions.
Somehow, this image did'nt suit my taste - I really don't know why...
More than looking at the eyes, I tend to look all around the border of the burnt regions. Am not sure how to explain it - may the the unburnt region on top-right-corner is pretty distracting too.

Purely a personal thought.

Thanks Kaushik, Pramod about the jpg compression artifact. It escaped my eyes, closer look revealed it now for me. Yes, Kaushik, the burning is not very accurate due to limitation of using hand. I have more ideas around this to try - may will try it this week - I am thinking of making a graduated neutral density shade with reduced density at the center - let me see if that works better :)
