Tiger scape..
The place was tricky ( Read muddy ),the light was tricky ( read too harsh) & time too was tricky ( summer noon) but

cant explain all such things to dear ` Tigers' :) they love to relax & puddle like this....I know i have failed to do justice to the scene which i actually saw

but won`t mind failing again n again to capture one of the dream shot one day.

Thanks in advance for critics & suggestions...

oh man, whatay surprise this was, Jayesh - loved it. Yes, i see all the "trickiness" - one could "wish for" many things, maybe do things differently "next time" and all that no? hey but the payoff, regardless, is stellar. i can only imagine your own joy at witnessing this scene.

i liked this a lot.

Jayesh, u fooled me with the title in the thumbnail, didnt look at it..with " oh another tiger pic", with the plethora of tiger images flying around on F.B. u know ive discovered "too much of something ..desensitizes one as a viewer" ...little bit of unnecessary arrogance i admit. trying to shake it off.. but this image..
what a delight. fortunate ..to have been there...ive been scouring the net and other contacts..."where can i catch a butterfly migration"?? in vain.. no answers...and here i see ur image with a tiny tiny representation of what im seeking....loved it..with whatever constraints. i have been imagining if i ever come across ..how would i shoot it.. thanks for sharing this lovely little happening..

Jayesh, so you witnessed the migration of the tigers :-). I saw this once in Simplipal National Park in Orissa, just thousands and thousands of them. Getting back to the image, I like the right part of the frame with the tigers against the green trees in the background. Somehow the left part of the frame is not working for me. I think the key here was to somehow find an open space and try and make an image which could be cropped for a very good composition. You had the moment dear :-). Even a square crop with the trees in the background and the butterflies moving in from all directions would have worked very well. We often face situations in nature when we are caught between the moment and a spot which does not work so well. I can well imagine your choice for a wider lens to include as many butterflies as possible, but probably I would have selected not a very wide one here. That would have forced me to move away from the sheer number of the butterflies but could have offered a much better composition. What do you think ? At times our choices look so limited... :-). We see this moment around June here in Eastern India, when did you make this image ?

Thanks Arati,Soham,Neelu & Nilanjan for your views..

Neelu & Nilanjan :: What i saw may just be a small part of migration...As the numbers were in hundreds-say

max 250...I made this image last week in Shoolpaneshwar WLS -a small wild place near catchment area of
Narmada dam. I saw `tigers' puddling amongst leaf litter near a stream taking off intermittently.. Unfortunately the area was completely covered by trees & no opening was there above... Not only the place was tricky but my mind set was also `tricky'- tired & sleepy due to previous nightlong search for owls & sloth bears & mid night photography session of `holi dance of local tribals. I do have some other compositions ..Will share them ..

indeed, quite tricky title too, jayeshbhai. like the spread of these wings across the frame 'n the moment you captured .. waiting for few more shots you captured.

regards.
