batessellate
mosiac of bats, from my recent journey to thar desert. the simple, yet confusing patterns formed reminds me of tessellated graphical works of the dutch artist, m.c.escher.

thank you for your critics and ratings. regards.

Very unique image Nevil. Two comments from me - brighten it up a bit with some more contrast - patterns of bats will stand out far better. Larger version can add a lot. Make a large print and enjoy ! I am sure VMR would love make a trip to this place :) Thanks for sharing..

If patterns in nature is a theme, this one beats everything, especially Ganesh has rightly pointed out, my ongoing three year window focussing on bats has really thrown up really great surprises. This one adds to that. Just yesterday we witnessed bats licking secretions of the Mango tree and today they adorn the driest places of the Thar. I will bother you for rest of the details. Coming back to the image, I really like the pattern here and certain the uniqueness is something we all call seeing is all about. The dark bat fits in so seamlessly in the pattern. If we look closely though there are a group each of the individual stands out. I would love to know the ID of these. Thanks for sharing.

dearones,
thanks for your soul-boosting comments.

@ganesh,
i avoided brightenning-up as i did not wanted much to highlight brighter (than bats) patches. moreover, i felt this little low light adds up to overall feeling of mystery. anyway, i would tryout your suggestion.

@vmr,
i too would like to know the ID. first, i searched for an albino (i don't know whether they exist or not) and finally ended up with this darkest one, among many thousands!

thank you once again. regards.

ps. @ganesh,
like today, many times larger versions don't fit the forum's max.bytes limit and i don't want to upload much compressed images.

Oh this is one heck of an image. Making images of bats is tough let alone finding patterns in while they perch! This is art + wildlife photography. Am dumbfounded Nevilji. This one goes over the top of my list in terms of some of the best bat images I have seen! Great seeing and execution. Congratulations on this image!

WOW lovely pattern. I never realized what I was looking at till I saw it for sometime. This image had me glued to it for a while, trying to figure out the life in this patterns. In small words this is one of those small percent of images which makes the viewer think and explore. Stupendously spectacular I must say. Thanks for making me think today :-D

another winner here Nevil... totally in love with this image! I probably consider increasing the brightness just a little bit and give it a try. But what a moment you had and how successfully you have utilized that one!! Kudos to you and your effort! Thanks a tonne for sharing it here.

Nevil, Beautiful pattern. One of best bats' images I have come across. Border is bit distracting to my taste.
