Wild magenta

Wild magenta

Wild magenta
Made this image of this wild flower while on a hike in the mountains couple of weeks back. The magenta/pink flower caught my attention amidst the 'flowing' grass and rocks.

Nikon D90 + Nikkor 18-105mm VR
f/8, 1/160, ISO640 @105mm
Mild Orton effect added to give it a slight soft/dreamy feel.

Critiques welcome.

This image is a study in many fronts, textures, composition, seeing, use of natural light, no use of any additonal props. A clean and nice image. Thanks for sharing. Photographically, execution wise a very uncluttered image.

Awesome shot...I love flora specially in its natural surroundings instead closeups. You've captured flowers' tenderness and grass' coarseness so beautifully and lighting makes those two flowers a star :)

A beautiful image Kaushik. Liked the composition very much. I think without the Orton effect also this image has the power to hold the viewer thanks for the composition and the color of the flower. If possible can you please share the image without the effect?

Love the dreamy glow there and the odd man out :) Very nice image Kaushik. How about sharpening the flower (only) just a bit ? Thanks for sharing..

Thank you all for your time and comments.
Will share the version without Orton in illustration forum by this week-end. And also Ganesh's suggestion to sharpen the flower.

EDIT: My apologies to Ashwin. Due to paucity of time, I'm unable to reprocess the image entirely. However, here's an export of RAW file (into jpg).

Good that I waited till you posted the image without the orton effect. I love the one with the orton effect than without. As VMR told this is a perfectly clean and artistic image. The effect brings out the "Wildness" of the flower really really well! Love the glow.
