beautiful!! Nevil, a great job spotting this.
I feel cropping a little from the left, such that the sky is not seen from the bottom and middle of the frame.
Also a little more space in the bottom of the frame would help IMO.

Excellent image Nevil. If this were mine I would exclude white spaces above and on left side of the frame by cropping them off. Very creative indeed, thanks for sharing.

thanks prithvi & ganesh for critics and suggestions. though, it was possible to present this image in all those 'n many other possible ways, there are few reasons why i preferred this ...

- i included these little white patches to make this simpler image, more complex
- i also wanted to have well defined custard apple leaves
- adding these spaces balances the whites & 'interestingness' in little unique and better way
- it forces the viewer to explore the whole image, which otherwise looks like a simple block-print

i would like to know, prithvi & ganesh, do you still think i should crop it off? this will tell me how viewer perceive my pre-thoughts on composing. thanks once again.

regards.

ps. thanks, praveen, i was writing when you wrote.

Nicely seen, details on leaves makes the shot. It would have turned great (for my senses) if you had cropped top and bottom excluding the white spaces such that they are present only in the central section of the image... Would be good printing it big (either Canvas or framed with matt).

Nevil, the reason why I felt that it should be cropped, is that, it would enhance the symmetry of the image.
Retaining some white at the TOP LEFT would balance the white in the top middle and top right.
The white in the middle and bottom of the left edge were taking away the frame like properties of the natural leaves.

@ prithvi,
if symmetry is concerned, i would have done everything to break it!

thanks once again. regards.

Wah this is what I call seeing! Lovely image. Agree with Ganesh on excluding the whites at the top. But more than anything its the choice of seeing this image in nature, which has made this so wonderful.

THIS is real seeing ! Very creative image.
For my tastes, I would crop the frame in such a way that the white spaces on left-middle & lower-left were excluded.
When I look at the lovely patterns created by the veins and the lovely white space in the centre, the white places on the left / lower-left create an uncomfortable distraction in the corners of my eye.
Try this (this is what I tried): start looking only at the centre and notice how uncomfortable it gets at the left corner of ur eye.
Now cover that left/lower-left with ur hands and see the difference :)

I am too happy to see it the way you have presented it Nevil :), so I will not bombard you with what you should have done. I think you already did what you felt was best for your feelings and taste. I tried watching this from your perspective and enjoyed a lot :). Thanks for sharing a marvel once again. Constructive criticism is good and necessary, but often it goes beyond what the artist has tried to convey, there is also a need to try and see the composition and creation from the creator's perspective.

dear friends,

thanks once again for all the comments 'n suggestions. @nilanjan, there is no question of 'bombardment' as there is always a learning process in other's view point too. i always agree that many times there are more than one answer to a problem and 'that' answer tells lot about how each one sees.

herewith, i have uploaded cropped version viewtopic.php?f=9&t=392" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and one is always free to choose according to his taste, nothing good or bad about it ... just about how one would like to see it. i will be very glad if one will find a learning curve in this kind of discussions. this is the strength of CNP, when someone bothers ... he/she cares 'n wish we could have done it in a better way.

regards.
nevil

This is excellent seeing! I am not much bothered about the white spaces around. As presented it is effective enough to capture the attention and make the viewer thinking. Great one.
