COMFORT....
simple scenes...a baby shies away from our gaze..
in the comfort of mothers arms..
even as the setting sun, lends him a ear..

Hey Neelu, this is excellent. Do you need those many empty pixels at the top ? I would consider cloning some of them to balance it with the bottom part of the image. Good you decided to retain it in color which might have helped a lot in retaining the focus on the ear which makes most of it I guess. Thanks for sharing.

Ganesh, thank u...
Empty pixels at the top... i thought the rimlit..outline snaking its way to the top and fading out slowly into the emptiness...had an appeal to my senses...but i guess looking at it from your veiwpoint , cropping it out would also balance the frame.... i did try a version of this in monotones..but as u noticed rightly so ..the coloured one hightlights the translucency of the ear...with more impact.. in comparison to the BNW one.. will do a cropped version too as suggested..

Excellent seeing.
The attachment of baby to its mother and the comfort zone it is in is well depicted here.

I love the way how the portrait comes alive without a face of a mother or kid and still evokes the same emotion of baby's comfort in its mothers arms.

Agree with ganesh on top pixels to be cropped out.

WOW topnotch Neelu! I loved it even from the thumbnail on the critique page! The ear is the focal point here, but what really drives the nail is the fact that the baby hiding behind the mother puts in a sense of safety and comfort. I guess the image would not have had as much punch as this one if the baby were visible.

I agree with Harsha's observation on the hiding baby. I too felt the same. BTW, I made a typo in my earlier comment and wrote 'year' instead of 'ear' which I corrected later. Sorry for the confusion it might have caused...

so soothing 'n comforting portrait, neelu. as already said, like the way translucent ear against mother's rim light speak volumes.. good decision to go for colour.

Neelu I'm looking at one amazingly creative image. It is creative in the sense you've used form to bring out the emotional appeal. As in Ganesh's series ..I have miles to go...where he brought out emotions through pure nature this one too does the same. It makes me a parent and a child at the same time. Comfort.. it is and much more.
Thanks for sharing

Samyak..thank you...yes i agree with ur observation...the emotions are there without..seeing the face of the baby or the mother... i guess i got lucky this scene presented itself..with the back light.

Harsha.., Ganesh, agree with you. what is not revealed in the image .and left to imagination speaks so much more in its absence ...the hint of which is from what is seen..the little contour lines of baby.and its juxtapostion ...

Nevil, Rajkumar, Hrishikesh.Raviprakash .thank you...means a lot..

NIrlep..."it makes me a parent and a child at the same time".....absolute FIDA at ur interpretations...this image will never be the same again...and i will never be the same..too.....u constantly bring new meanings to an image with your perceptions.....heart warming.....!!!!!
