Manjunath,

the bands of shadows and light..make this image... very very nice..

You have captured a lovely, regal pose of the egret Manjunath ... and the light and shade "Chiaroscuro" play is superb.
Was there a slight wind? the soft fluffiness of the feathers seem to give this a very fleeting, ephemeral look - would love to see this blown up. As i look at this image more, i seem to long for some light on the leg -- maybe the leg that is raised ... it is such a typical pose, and it would make a perfect portrait of the bird ... but of course, one cannot have everything ... and you already have a great portrait here.

best,
A

Arati, you have a beautiful way with words (had to google "chiaroscuro" :)), thanks again.. yes, there was a slight wind blowing.. i will go back and check if there is a different frame with the leg in light..

Works very well Manjunath ! A fine composition here. Images like this time and again proves it is not about the subjects, it is about the vision of the photographer !! Thanks for sharing..

Manjunath, this is a very fine image. It makes me feel like I am looking at an egret through clouds.. I think one would normally tend to overlook an image that has a bright spot around the main areas, but that is exactly what adds to the beauty of this image.

Very well done :)

A Very poetic approach to this such a common bird. From darkness to light, the whole body guided by the patches of light works very well.
Finally, the eye nicely rests over the lit area of its. The white background behind gives the cloud feeling. A Fine Image to remember for a long time.
