Ghost of the Darkness
Ghost of the Darkness - that's how I would like to describe the leopards of Bera in Rajasthan. Most of the sightings were well into the night and this image shows just one of them. Thanks for your views and comments.

Very interesting Vikram. The night element associated with the leopard is quite well justified in this image. Though am liking this tone of the car lights or spot light used for tracking, am also curious to see one with cooler tones to see if that would enhance the element of night better than this. Do you have another frame with some more motion in the leopard with reduced details and just a few spots moving away while blending with the night ? Could I explain myself ? Would love to know more about this place. Looks like you really had some great time.

Happy birthday, Vikram!
i am so partial to images like this ... these ghost of darkness images ... i liked this one a lot. the motion, the beautiful tail, the tones of the coat, the disappearing ... black and gold rosettes ... some of my favorite colors and this frame is working perfectly for me ...
now, if we had such things in our hands, i would have liked a softer fade to black at the right edge of the frame :)
thanks!

First, it reminded me of this image by Arati

I think the comparison ends there quickly. In my mind this has a different meaning altogether. While Arati's image seem to have a greater focus on the 'disappearing' cat, this one has an amazing silence built into the dark parts of the frame. Two fine similar looking images but different feel/meanings as I see it. Square crop makes the composition here Vikram. Thanks for sharing !

Excellent visualization Vikram. I think you have demonstrated really well on how to make "darkness" as your subject... Fantastic visuals!

Thanks to all of you for the comments.

@Nilanjan - I really appreciate your feedback. I don't have an image as you mentioned but I will post some variations of the same one in the forum. It was quite challenging to make decent images without flash.

Amazing image Vikram. Who else can put it in words at best Ganesh. I echo his words here. Hope you had some amazing leopard sightings in Rajasthan. Wishing to see more of your creations here.
