This image was made at Hasirumakki backwaters near Kodachadri of Westernghats region.

This place is an endless possibility of creative landscape images.

Initially i spent some time around the backwaters examining subjects and the presence of large amount of dead trees ( or roots in many places ) paved way for some stand alone compositions.

I pre-decided and took this image with B&W presentation in mind. Tried a couple of on the camera B&W images and later shot the main lot of images ( including this one ) in Color mode and then later converted it to mono in computer.

A small amount of supressed fill-flash was used here to make the bottom portion of the trees or frame more bright.

A big thanks to Adithya Biloor for introducing me to this place and being my host during my last visit to this place.

Love this image Shiv ! Looks very artistic. I think very prudent decision on your part to go B&W with this. The darker upper half of the sky adds a lot to the mood and depth of the image. Sharavathi backwaters is an excellent place to make some moody abstract images. Thanks for sharing..

Shiv, this is just awesome. I totally agree WITH Ganesh. Did you shoot another pic with less tight composition?

Nice artistic image out of a simple subject - which often would go unseen. Contrary to what Ganesh mentioned, I might be interested in seeing how the brighter sky would look (as in using filters on PS to keep blue channel bright). I'm not sure - its just an alternate thought to see if it can improve the image's aesthetics.

From the thumbnail, I thought it was a mountain, (Mt Fuji to be precise) but I was surprised to find this instead. Its nice to have the sky included in the frame, as it gives a nice deep feel to the image. Also love the texture here.

exceelent image Shiv. B/w works very well here. It's evoking many emotions in my mind. In any chance do you have an image with more of sky in the frame. Curious to see that version as I was with you there that day.

This is an excellent image Shiv. Perfect I would say, and going black n white was the right choice. How does it look in a wider perspective ?

Hi Shiv,
There's something very pristine about this image. Inspite of it being a still life the canvas is very alive. Dark sky is ok with me as it sets up a placid mood. And yes, like Nilanjan I too would love to see a wider perspective.
