Coot Painting
When ever I see this image, I feel like listening to the enchanting tunes of Santoor. For me, tunes from the stringed instruments awesomely represent the most important element of Nature - Water. Watching the coots glide slowly through the water from one co-ordinate to another after the sun has gone down is not a scene that we can see everyday. Diffraction causing the water turn this blue is definitely not to be seen every day as well. This was one such serene evening when the sun had gone down and the light reflected by the water was exactly like this.
No post processing applied except the levels and sharpening to show the scene as close to reality as possible. Full frame image.

Much appreciate your thoughts and comments.

Excellent mood here....Loved the composition.....framing by the dark portions,OOF grass & colour of reflected light of water...
I wish the other coot to be more defined....

Beautiful colors man. I think your effort to capture the scene as seen has borne fruit here. Somehow the OOF grass adds to the image. Wondering how it would look if we had a little more OOF grass in the frame. The grass gives a nice mood to the picture if you ask me.

Hi Pramod,
Coot painting it is. It's interesting how two persons could be thinking about the same thing. Just when I was thinking that the oof reeds extending towards the middle and top left region would enhance the image further, I read the comment of Sriharsha who too felt the same. The reeds bring a wildside to the shot and you did well to include them.

Thanks for your input friends! Nirlep, I do understand what you are trying to say. I clearly missed out seeing that way. But, given another opportunity it will be interesting for me to try out such a composition for sure!

Meanwhilem here are couple of images ( one color and another B&W version of the same image) I tried some what similar to your description though under different lighting conditions and scenario:

Let me know what you think.

Thanks again. Cheers.

Hi Pramod,
I just saw the the images you're referring to and the foreground effect is truly wild. Personally I find such foreground very interesting. It gives a feel of looking through rather than looking at.

Pramod, I like the band of dark regions framing the water and bird nicely. A bit more of dof on upper part of the frame would have added. Blue here adds to the mood. May be a bit more of sharpening would add further ? Thanks for sharing..

A very interesting creation. Like the blues effect.
