We have a new gallery !

Postby CNP Staff » Sat Jun 08, 2013 4:21 pm

Friends,

During last year+ we have seen a strong tendency to interpret Creative Images as mostly abstracts and B&W images. This is excluding several other creative expressions of nature, namely - night photography, stereographic images, unique visions which are results of using special techniques like remote triggers, use special lighting techniques etc. etc.We felt there is a need to make it explicit that creative images are not just B&Ws and abstracts. One way to do that is to separate all images into two streams, namely -

Creative Visions : Mostly non-abstract unique images of nature. This may include night photography, wide angle macro perspectives, remote triggered unique perspectives, stereographic images, images with unique creative lighting etc etc..

A few examples that we think are appropriate to this gallery are (you may click on these thumbnails to see the larger versions) -

image_id: 8746
image_id: 6309
image_id: 6323
image_id: 7949
image_id: 7602
image_id: 5998
image_id: 5588
image_id: 3941

We have moved some of the images to this gallery to seed this gallery. There are lots of images that exist in the critique gallery today that may
fit this gallery better. We may move more images to this gallery in future.

Nature as Art : This will have mostly B&Ws, monotones and abstracts (including color abstracts)

For lack of better short name we are calling this gallery "Nature as Art". We can debate on that word "art" for ever ! However in this context we simply mean abstracts/monotones (mainly those which distances themselves from reality - literally or in
its intended meaning). Some example images being -

image_id: 8507
image_id: 7969
image_id: 7599
image_id: 6980
image_id: 6605
image_id: 6199
image_id: 3800
image_id: 7100

The links to these two galleries are -

Creative Visions Gallery

Nature as Art

You decide where you want to post your image. Please post a given image to only one of the two galleries (not to both galleries).
Further, you may post one image each per day to each of these two galleries.

Editor pick gallery will contain images picked from both the galleries. The front page will
contain a few recent thumbnails from both galleries and links to both galleries.

We hope this will widen our horizon and enable us to explore far more creative avenues !

Please let us know if you have questions. Looking forward to more unique visions of nature !

We have been very busy doing some of these changes. We have just completed 5 years as a forum. We will announce the images of the year 2013 soon !!

Please stay tuned !

Thank you for your support !!

Nice initiative Ganesh. I guess it's more easier if you give each individual member the rights to move an image into the correct gallery they see best for their images. I guess it would make things much simpler on your side.

5 years and counting! Every year I have the same feeling of learning so much from this forum. The term of creative photography has seen so many refinements in this time frame and so has my visions. Can't imagine how things will evolve in the upcoming years!

Can't wait for the images of the year.

Hi Harsha,

For already posted images the images need to be manually moved by admins (because it is a moderation feature in the software). We would have preferred this handled by each user but we don't have that feature. We wanted to seed this new gallery with some example images and moved some of the images there. However, if you prefer any image (already moved) to be in the other gallery please let us know (leave us a mail) we can handle that for you. Going forward you can decide where you want to post them based on the nature of the image.

Please do let us know if any of you need help !

Wishing you best light,
