CNP Meet and Book Release

Postby CNP Staff » Sat Jul 14, 2018 9:38 pm

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your orders of our book Art of Seeing. The response has been tremendous, way beyond what we had expected.

We are now moving onto the next critical task of printing and publishing the book. Here are the details of book release and distribution:

We have planned a CNP meet at Simha Farms at foothills of Kodachadri, Shimoga Dist, Karnataka on Aug 25 and 26. We are happy to announce that we will be releasing the book at this meet on 25 Aug evening. Considering the logistics hurdles, we will not be distributing the books at the meet.

For those we have opted for shipping, we will start couriering the books from 1 Sep. Please send us your shipping address if you have not done it already. And for those who have opted for collecting the books in Bangalore, books will be available for pick up from 1 Sep. We will announce the pick up locations and timings at a later date.

Please join the CNP meet if you can. It will be a pleasure to interact with you. A few of the CNP friends are organising this event. The team will share the details here in this thread.

Thank you for your support and interest!
Regards,
CNP Staff

Dear Friends,

Here are the details of the event.

Location:
Simha farms(owned by fellow CNPian Adithya Biloor), Kodachadri,Hosanagar, Shimoga District, Karnataka
(For those who have attended the 2011 meet this place is familiar)

Web Site:http://simhafarms.com/

https://goo.gl/maps/QupmaGkTp2q

Launch/Meet dates:

25th & 26th of August 2018

Approx. cost for the stay & food is around 3000 Rs. for 2 days per person on sharing basis.

Please confirm your participation by replying to this thread on or before 31st of July

Please mention if you are coming with your family.
Please note that accommodation is on shared basis, it is not possible to provide single supplement.
If you are planning to extend the stay please inform in advance.
First 20 will be accommodated in Simha farms and rest would be accommodated in a nearby homestay and pick up drop will be provided.
Mode of payment would be communicated soon.

Please note we can accommodate 40 people at the max

About the location:

This place is part of western ghats, so you can expect ample opportunities to photograph. For nature photography one can always go to Kodachadri, a hill station, which is very close to Simha farms. There are couple of waterfalls close to the farm and the famous Jog Falls and Gudavi bird sanctuary are close by as well. Hasirumakki backwaters is one not to be missed as well. Those who are interested in shooting monuments there are few old forts like Kanurkote, Kavaledurga, etc, dating back to 12th century. Temple towns of Kollur, Sringeri, Udupi, Gokarna all are not far from this place. It'll be paddy cultivation season so you may get to shoot the traditional way of paddy cultivation. This part of western ghats called as Malnad is not so much urbanised so one gets to see the old cultural heritage is still surviving. Hopefully we get to taste the traditional Malnad dishes as well. Or we may spend most of the time on 25th & 26th here itself. Busy meeting, chatting while photographing!!

These factors played a major role in deciding this place for the CNP meet.

Here are few pics from 2011's CNP meet http://www.creativenaturephotography.net/forum/phpBB3_0_1/gallery/album.php?album_id=15

Those who are interested in covering these places we can always help in planning.

How to reach there:

Probably Raj can talk about “contact printing” and show us some samples, also share his experiences of handling such large no electronics cameras..

Raj? If not talk, may be during one of those photo slots for those who are interested...

A sideline discussion among interested is sufficient I think Ganesh.

Two practices of last time are good and can continue

- People can bring some prints for display and discussion

- Any books related to Art / photography that has influenced their work . Again for discussion and sharing

Thanks

Certain Extent the theme of this meeting should be " Photograph as a print "

- Discussion on Books versus exhibitions -
- Printing options, pitfalls, preservation, presentation, monitor versus print pitfalls and differences ....
- Owning and operating printers for both color and BnW - If anybody can talk ...great topic - Ganesh think you did some work here
- Creating poster size prints- Techniques, approach, and philosophy --
Just some thoughts
Art is about what is inside rather than what is outside
