Subha, generally this behaviour is exhibited by males in musth for sending out signals to females who are already in oestrous or the one's which are approaching oestrous. Many a times females in oestrous too are found rubbing the tip of their trunk or their entire trunk in response, this at times indicates that the female would for surely respond to the male who has marked his hormonal surge on trees. Nice moment captured.
