The mudbath
Hoopoe was pretty common in Bharatpur and this particular fella always used to be around the area where the human activity is maximum. All the time this fella used to be in the open with the Sun being over the head, creating an uninteresting situation to photograph. It is on one day that I got an opportunity when I found him on the place where there was some play of light. This guy was enjoying the mud bath and I was enjoying looking at him :) ofcourse through the lens!

P.S.: Shame that I have not noticed that dark twig in the foreground :( All the action ended within a minute and I had no time for the retake. As it is a full frame image I cannot crop from the bottom as well as I would end up in a pano kind of composition which is not of much interest to me. Hmmm... A lesson well learned!

Ashwin this is a fine rendition of the bird in the composition, however you could have used a very slow shutter speed if the bird was in the motion of mud bath.
