Life - a portrait
Craig Venter has been trying to create synthetic life for two decades now. However, "life" seem to have got created effortlessly(?) in nature.

What are we missing? Why is it so difficult to create "life"? I think humbleness of greatest artists like Einstein (incidentally he is also known as a greatest scientist) has its roots in the definite knowledge that our ability to comprehend life and universe is very very limited.

Is this "nature" photography? Or our definition of "nature" is very limited (to tigers and elephants)?

Nice thoughts Ganesh,
Carl Sagan in his book "Cosmos" made a statement that gave me goose pimples the first time I read it and ever since has stayed with me.
"Given the chemical make up of life and the cosmos around us, Life seems to be a cosmic inevitability linked directly with time. Earth was formed 4.6 Billion years, and life originated almost immediately 4 Billion years ago. Intelligence (in humans) originated only a couple of Million Years ago. Considering this the origin of Intelligence is far more difficult than the origin of life itself!"

The image makes a statement- At present, the best we can do is create a stone imitation of a living thing and then wait for nature to give it life !!!!
To add, I remember seeing a high res large version of this and wondering about all the living things on that patch an entire ecosystem in itself
