Don't know the exact species, Nevil. It is very similar to Andaman Redwood seed. Probably same family, but found in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. I'll ask around...
I've come back to this image so many times... and every time I stare at the it I just keep feeling even the imperfections in nature are somehow so perfect... Loved it...
