a graceful pose and tones … for some reason I feel may be better impact if the bird was a bit more scaled down in the frame with more space around ? your thoughts ?

Agreed, I was handicapped as I was using 500 mm with a TC. Also the background may not have worked as there was pain sky above the grass.
