No prize for guessing what this is! This happens to be larger view of the tiny water droplets condensed on a mineral water bottle. Why all these droplets are spherical in shape? The answer science has is, everything in this universe wants to save energy (being idle is not quite the same, I guess). The water molecules huddle together (surface tension) to reduce the surface area there by trying to minimise the surface energy. Sphere has the least surface area for a given volume, so these droplets are spherical in shape. Incidentally living system also exhibit this behaviour. Owlets in the winter huddle together the save energy (heat).

Is this comparison fare? I think so if I try to get to bottom of it.

Distasteful in artistic sense? So be it, it does not matter!!

It appears, "conservation" is a necessity in living and non-living things? A limitation imposed by Nature on every creation, irrespective? Living things anyway are made up of non-living things?

Why? Science has no answers for these ultimate "why" questions. It stops at - "that is how it is". However, philosophy has "answers" to all these as "opinions"!

In a related note, is our conception of "beauty" has limitations imposed by Nature on us? I strongly believe the answer is resounding "yes"!

has a magical quality. It is said humans like shining gold and diamonds because they are hard-wired to look for the shimmering glow of water for survival as a part of the evolution. Water droplets do create that immediate response
