I like the dreamy mood. I think the grains add here because that is how I remember a cold wintery evening with some fog and moonlight shining through
On the other topic: Frankly, for me, the word "Manipulation" is erased from my dictionary
. Only intent matters. So I make no value judgment on "manipulation" and do not give a higher moral ground for so-called "SOOC". The very act of photographing is one step removed in terms of time, space, colors, contrast, context, frame you name it. The Camera, Computer, film base, scanner etc etc did a lot of things already wether you know it or not
Which section is something must-go-to is a matter of small adjustment. I can go with the Editors on that
Personally, I add all pictures in which I have not added or deleted elements to the Creative Nature section. Even if there is more than "normal" tone management to meet an artistic vision
All others I add to the Nature as Art section. With suitable comments on additions deletions / changes etc. But I do take complete freedom in this section and am not shy of the "manipulation" at all
These are my boundary conditions. May not be applicable to all.
Please correct me if my interpretation is wrong. Any other views are welcome
PS: Sacha I do love Film as a medium. Smell of developer/fixer itself is heady to start with. As you said film has its own nuances and is unforgiving . I shoot large format 4X5, 8X10 and 10 X 12 all inches.
