WOW, if you have to have an image win an award for color and composition I would pick this without any doubt!! Cant take my eyes of the frame!! What color here. Simply WOW!! The color of the BG goes very well with the color of the Neelgai.

This is a fantastic image, I really like the color tones and the animalscape, the bird on Nilgai lifts this already quality image. Composition is fantastic. I am glad we see color and color in nature like this can never be forgotten. You have a winner here

This is one image where I would have personally loved to see it in maximum depth of field. The lovely light, the beautiful landscape and the perfectly placed antelope all together just ask for wanting more details. In my opinion beauty does not dampen with common or rare species or topics as you mentioned, anything beautiful always remains that way, its only a person's mind which decides to switch on or off the appreciation levels :). Happy Diwali and a wonderful new year to you as well. Thanks for sharing this one, one day I might request you to make me a print of this one.

Because of the settings the Neelghai looks three dimensional. One of the best images I have seen in recent times. Checked the exif. Looks like the aperture was f/9 @ 400mm. From a experimentation point of view since you use 100-400 and assuming the neelghai was stationary for sometime looks like a wider perspective @200mm with higher DOF would also be nice.

Dear Gurus,

Thank you very much for your kind words on this image and I am pleased to have your views on this.

Dear NDsir,
I am quite agreeing with your view, and it would be my privilege if you ask me for a print of this image, and I would be very happy to present it for you.

Dear MDsir,
To make this image I set myself on a water tank and there was no place to set my tripod so I had to shoot it hand-held only. And it was quite a late evening to close my aperture to get deeper DOF, and I was little bit afraid of hand shake, so I kept comfortable speed to suit my abilities.
I also wanted to reduce my lens to 200mm to have good DOF but there was a road going from the fore ground which I wanted to avoid, and there was no chance to move forward for me.
As Ganesh sir says, “after all it’s Nature and we have to take what we get.”
But I will definitely look for another chance where I can include your suggestions.

Thank you very much every one
Regards,

You create a masterpiece here and ask us to critique? Visual balance in the image is perfect! Gradations of the colors is unique and the Nilgai looking into the frame creates a very unique perspective. Of course the drongo is icing on the cake! Print it large and hang it in your living room! At least 20X30!!
