Micky in the Field - Smithia Setulosa
Back from Kaas - The plateau of flowers. Here goes the first one, lots of images to process..

Used a bit of torch light create the difference in exposure to emphasize the flower. I have been studying quality of blurs resulting from different (in camera) techniques. Some blurs look just blurs and some blurs look very artistic. Gaussian blur of Photoshop just can't simulate them some of the moody artistic blurs with subtle creamy feel.

Thanks to Dr Sandeep Shrotri who showed these beauties at Kaas Plateau.

Thanks for your views..

Well, one thing is that I completely agree with you that the gaussian blur in PS simply cannot create blurs like the ones the actual lens creates.
The warm lighting on the flower is beautiful. The overall exposure is very appealing. Really liked the 50-50 divide in the BG.
Just wondering if increasing DOF to bring entire flower in it (to make the whole flower sharp) would have made it better...??? But again understandably you would not have got this BG blur.
