Diamond Studded Wings
Parks and Lake beds are a joy to watch and shoot on winter mornings with lot of macro subjects staying still giving you ample opportunity to shoot to the fullest. On one such cool winter morning when i was strolling along a lake bund - i bumped into this damselfly which was completely covered with dew. I tried to emphasize on the tiny droplets of water in abstract form of composing just a portion of the subject. I experimented a lot with front and back lit angles and this one of them which brought a satisfactory smile on my face.
Would love to know your views on this.

awesome macro Shiva, I just love the sparkling water, image also portrays the strength of the delicate wings by staying stiff despite all the water. I however think that the placement of the wing in the frame is a little too predictable. Maybe you should have tried putting the wing along the diagonal of the frame IMHO. But lovely perspective here.

Shiv if i was in you position, i would have gone for tight composition... Also yellow streak in the centre of the photograph is very distracting. Sorry for being blunt :(

Well attempted Shiv. The droplets indeed look beautiful here. The light green strip in the middle is distracting the view a bit. The DoF in this kind of images is always a challenge.

could have tried to make the wing parallel to the sensor plane....slight out of focus at the corners......i feel a tighter frame would have made more impact.....

my 2 cents.
lovely shot overall. the wing has come out well, with the gossamer feel highlighted due to it's transparency. The bg is good, i don't mind the yellow streak at all... it's a part of the landscape.
it appears as if the focal plane is near the wing tip and get's oof as it nears the shoulder. that is a bit distracting and also there are not many visual cues in the image to follow. Perhaps the placement of the wing in the image and a crop may be tried out. anyway, just my gut feel, have no qualifications in this area :) thanks for reading.

Very nice image Shiva but I too agree on a tighter crop.:)
