What I love about this image is the sheer density of the mist, giving it an 'amidst the clouds' feel. But I reckon that this image would regain its deserved vibrancy, and reflect the morning mood more faithfully, in colour. Also, I'm somehow unable to appreciate the square presentation (although I understand that you may have chosen it to give space for the rising mist) and the heron is looking a bit soft (perhaps you deliberately didn't sharpen it much?).

Incidentally, this image reminds me of one I made in TGH a few weeks ago, which can be seen here http://www.indianaturewatch.net/display ... ?id=202791 .

Thanks for sharing, Ganesh.

Beautiful image there Santhosh. I agree with you that the color version helps bring out the "morning mood" better, I also felt B&W has a different elegance.

What do you prefer Santhosh ? I kept the heron soft purposefully since I felt moody feelings don't go well with sharper renditions (for my taste buds). Thanks for your honest views..

fantastic image, ganesh. love the moody feel of the thick mist. nice compo, and right decision to have soft heron & b&w conversion.

tfs. regards.

Sir, it feels the bird is sitting on a lake of LAVA, interestingly exposed and a great perspective. Thanks for sharing this pleasing image.

Thanks so much for posting the colour image, Ganesh! After seeing it, I am certainly inclined more towards the gray-scale version simply because the 'hot' areas of the colour image are a bit harsh on the eye, whereas they take on a completely different character in the mono-chrome.

I believe the colour image may work brilliantly if you crop the hot part of the image off from the bottom and retain only until a little below the heron's feet in the frame.

Thank you for sharing, and I'm happy to report that the mono-chrome image is actually growing on me. :-)

The BW works for me too Ganesh, for exactly the same reasons pointed out by Santosh. I love the ethereal feel of the image

Ganesh, I feel the mist is more pronounced in the B&W version.
The square format takes a little time getting used to.
Beautiful image sir.

Simply loved the tones in the image. The mood is amazing and the monochrome suits the occasion. The only doubt for me is the decision to go square! I couldn't find a reason. How about cropping a little from the above and presenting it in 3:4 or slightly pano-ish?

LOL, not sure about that, Ganesh. :-) But I have to say that looking at this image yet again, I'm beginning to believe that it works in square format. Therefore, maybe it's just a matter of 'getting used to it'. Like you always say, our minds are probably so conditioned to a rectangular format that it takes time to break that limitation and accept something different. I think the problem is in the viewer's mind and not in the format or in the image maker's age. :-)
