Eye contact
One early morning at grassland of Dhikala - it gave me a piercing look before disappearing into woods. Decided to place that captivating eye at the dead center of the frame. Filtered based on green channel to render the surrounding grassland region white to emphasize the boar in the frame. Will upload the color version for comparison soon..

Ok, uploaded it now. Here is the link to color/natural history version of the same.

I don't know say. Eye at exact center of the frame is simply fabulous ! Clinical precision from field to frame!!

What PV could not finish were the exact words that came to my mind too :), what the .... !!!! I am interested to see the version with 50-60% of the green channel used compared to as used in this processing Ganesh, am forcing myself to critique this image and the only thing I can come up with is to see a little less of the white in the bg :-). I have never seen a wild boar image as good as this one ever. Can I reveal one thing, for some reason unknown to me, I never make wild boar images, I don't know why but I do not have a single wild boar image, but now definitely this image has changed my mind. They are not so boarish after all :). Outstanding image.

This is most unfair!! You guys tempted me with great photos of tigers, bears, lions and exotic birds and had me invest in expensive equipment. Now you are shooting shooting pigs in corbett (and nilanjan is shooting leaves in kazi) - whats the world coming to!!
Ok jokes aside - i like the composition - my only suggestion is to make a vignette and get a little more of the pig into the vignette. Right now the break between the boar and the white is too sharp for me - even though thats a natural outcome of the green filter.

Anish, I did try vignetting but in this particular case black/dark(vignette) and dark subject did not appear to be very effective - you may download this and try it yourself. Would love to see your version of it..

Simply loved the high key b&w Ganesh.
The eye is in the dead center of the frame, sir you break the rules with style :-).

This is one of the most impactful images of a wild boar I've ever come across. This works amazingly well and exactly as you want: the first and last thing eyes note is the piercing eyes of the boar!

However, I'd assume a little (very little) vignetting at the borders all around will add to this effect more as there is already a spotlight effect around the eyes. Also, may be the presence of the flies (that I notice in the color version) will add a bit as well. Just something I might have tried as well, but it is always a matter of personal taste and your experiments would surely have ruled them out for your taste buds.

This is a masterpiece! I feel so glad to be looking at it! I have been yearning to see one image that makes a wild pig look beautiful and voila...I found it!

I like the contrast between the black subject and the white bg Ganesh..
How about selectively sharpening the eye and keeping the rest of the body soft??

Hi Ganesh,
Thanks for waking me up from long sleep with this very strong image. It conveys power of the wild. The eye is audacious and it's placement in the middle re-introduces this creature as a worthy subject for creative photography. Nilanjan's temptation to make wild boar image and Anish's grouse after seeing this image is well justified. :) You've broken the rule and wow ..with what style!
Thanks for sharing
