RD, after seeing all the three I think the Version 2 is visually more powerful than the other two. Wish the owl had a little more significance in the frame (of course you could not do much with that :) )

RD, I somehow like this version the best :-), I loved the tones in version 1 and the clearly identifiable ears of the owl in version 2. This version allows me to understand the owl as well as how well it is blending with it's habitat. As Ganesh said, may be a little more definition would have made this image even more powerful, but I liked it very much. You handled the conditions very well buddy :-). Not easy stuff at all.
