Dance Lightly
Let your life lightly dance on the edges of Time like dew on the tip of a leaf.
~ Rabindranath Tagore

The shiny dew caught my lens and i decided to get out of my comfort zone and experiment with chiaroscuro :)

the experimentation worked well and its a great success.....except for very few “J” shapes in the bottom right corner its very well balanced…but then in nature we have very little control over the subject….excellent work…

Thanks praveen. And thanks for helping me see the lower right hand corner... maybe i should have cloned out a few of those arcs...
i have a series of these experiments. the dew painting threw up some interesting patterns. i might upload it to my site and provide the link for discussion.

thanks again!

The bright 'J's there makes it unique ! Wish the right most out of focus green leaf was absent, but then you take what you get :) Thanks for sharing Arati..

hahaha... Thanks ganesh.

I have put up the Dance Lightly Series here.
the last image doesnt have the most out of focus leaf (shot from a slightly different angle)

to my graphic design mind, the first image with the dew-grass header is visually appealing - but it has overall less definition - more abstract but hence probably more meaningless - to me. i have not yet decided :)

Hi Arati,
Beautiful image here. How did you get this? can you elaborate some more?
Thanks for sharing

Thank you Nirlep.
it was about 8am or so and the sun was setting off the dew on these reeds and blades of grass. on every node the dew shone like jewels. i tried getting tack sharp images for a while, but found that the lovely rainbow colors were not coming through. so i closed the aperture down to f/40. and shutter was 1/10 sec. and i let the slight wind, hand-held shake and slow shutter speed paint the sensor...

there are a few more experiments here -- all like that, with varying degrees of light-painting by the shiny dew...

thanks,
:)a

Not sure what made you to post the middle one Arati :)

The first one (1 of 3) is art in my book and the last one (3 of 3) is more appealing than this one you posted here :)
Can you articulate why this one appealed to you more than the other two ?

actually, 1 of 3 (the first one) was my favorite. i was going to post that one then over-thought it and posted the more literal one. as for why 2 and not 3, it just confirms that i am a terrible photo-editor of my own images!

as they say, i probably was too close to the forest to see the trees!
but when i posted them side by side, it was as amply clear what i should have done! maybe that is what i should do going forward - post it on the blog, compare it side by side and then choose one :)

thanks!

you have posted the wrong image for sure...the 1st one amazing...a great photographer once said "like you know to take good images you should know to hide your bad images"......

All 3 images are unique and to me, 1st and 2nd are great. It's just the individual taste. I like the 1st image which has great feel to it.
