More tadpoles!
I processed this image i had made from almost right above the tadpoles in a few ways here.

i have posted (4) of (4) here (thanks Mahesh!) partly because of its appeal to me: i felt it reminded me of Shodo or Japanese Calligraphy - as if someone had dipped a bamboo brush in an inkwell and touched it to rice paper. Hence the title.

Which one appeals to you, if any at all?

Hmm, these tadpoles are an excellent subject by themselves and can trigger several unrelated thoughts even related to formation of life too.

Of all the four versions my favorite is the second one titled "Birth of an idea - 1947". Grains, tone, quality of water, reeds all add up beautifully there. Further that images seem to relate to something in mind and make me ponder over what that is. In this image I think due to extreme contrast dimension is lost. But I kind of like the graphic appeal. It would be interesting to know what triggered you to title the other image as "Birth of an idea - 1947". Thanks for sharing..

Thanks Ganesh ... yes, the second one - Birth of an Idea, 1947 is visually much richer than the others. The reason i like this (or 1 which is a subset of this) is purely graphic appeal.

Why "Birth of an Idea, 1947"
Tadpoles often remind me of sperm. the processing looks to me like an old print. to my mind, i felt, putting the "sperm" and the dated look together allowed me to think of "birth" and images from the pre-independence era. extending the abstraction further... the "Idea" refers to Freedom.

In some ways, to many folks, the promise of Freedom has remained just an idea, in India. What is, is different. So this title, "Birth of an Idea, 1947" is a tangential, visual reference to the beginning of an idea which likely morphed, changed, and looks like nothing like what it looked, all those years ago.

Interesting ! I agree with you on some aspects. I kept it implied in my earlier comment - can trigger several unrelated thoughts even related to formation of life too and I was curious know you too came from that angle reading the title !

They all seem to race in search of an egg to fertilize.

Hey arati, As i mentioned earlier the splash makes the image for me. The splash and the associated disturbance seems to break the monotony in a nice way. If not for the splash for the uninitiated might not be possible to make out this is an underwater image.

yes ganesh - and Adithya UN's photo best represents that "race" ... loved that one.

Mahesh, agree - tho i also like the abstraction in the purely graphic (1) ... i think it is the calligrapher in me that is saying that!
exploring some extremes on this forum... not sure if it will fly or if i myself will like it. let's see how the journey goes...
thanks,
A
