Well panned and placed - they are at right part in the frame. This will make a nice print Arati. I would crop just a few pixels at the top to loose the cropped dark wings at the left top part of the frame.

Thanks Ganesh! yes, i saw those dark wings - cropping it would crop the "first" parrot... so maybe i'd have to clone it out... interesting that you think it would make a good print - how can you tell?

i will need to get some gyaan on this from you... been thinking of making a few prints and was wondering which would work better than others.

Brilliantly executed pan-shot ! Parrots frozen with right kind of BG ! The speed at which these birds fly its really not an easy job. Just curious to know at what focal length you clicked this ?

just checked the exif - i've zoomed out on my 70-300mm and shot this at 70mm as the birds flew over my hide (we were in a hide in the middle of the river in the amazon)...

I would print it as a square crop reducing right and bottom greens, that would add bit more dynamism for my taste - 16x16 pure white canvas would be my choice to start with, and if possible go upto 32x32 ?

Nicely executed. I would crop / clone the top left parrot, which is half-seen with dark feathers. The green pattern of the trees at the bottom and right side of the frame adds a lot to the overall beauty. You could try adding some grain to see if you get water-colour feel to the image. It would look nice on canvas.

It would sound kind of crazy but the near perfect pan is taking something away from the frame. My eyes are looking for some fuzziness so characteristic of motion.

Nirlep - hahaha! this was my first attempt at panning probably beginner's "luck" - but more realistically, the fact that the birds were almost overhead has probably resulted in this effect? at that moment, i had no choice

I need to play with panning more to see what turns out good, not-so-good and so on.

Vikram, Natarajan, RD ... thanks, i have not printed any of my photos and am only just beginning to think about that aspect and then begin the learning, prepping, etc... It will be an interesting journey, surely - and am looking forward to it. esp since there are so many people to learn from, in this forum.

The panning has given a windshield wiper effect to the background. Lovely. Arati...did you try converting the same to B&W. Wondering how the effect in that would be.

loved the placement. Only wish the bird that is being cut by the left edge of the frame and the bird being cut by the top left edge of the frame was absent( or removed during PP)

Love this pan Arati. I have been on the "pan mode" for a bit and its a hard one to pull off for me. So many variables and the type & quality of the blur changes ( pan speed, pan technique, background clutter, background colour, , shutter speed, birdie size ..yada..yada....). But, this one the amount of blur to me , seems just right. Yes, I would go with cloning out the top most black wing. And super positioning of the birdies in the frame
