Love the mood of this image. Dead wood in mist looks superb.

Before reading your description I thought you made this image in a back water. Nice, moody image. Not sure about the inclusion of the bird in the left side of the frame.

Love the way the trees seems to come out of no where, fantastic mood.
A little more space beyond the right most tree would help.
