Hi Madhav,
This is amazing shot. Where on earth did you get this? never seen such profusion of mushrooms. Your framing is spot on with jungle joining in to reinforce. It would be interesting to take this shot with sidelight during sunrise or sunset.
Thanks for sharing

Thank you Nirlepji. In my visit to Mallalli falls (Madikeri district) in Western Ghats, I saw 2 dead trees almost completely covered in mushrooms. These mushrooms grow in monsoon season and in this season one can barely get a glimpse of the Sun. However, if it happens, i am sure it will look spectacular.

Amazing pattern and numbers. I would have thrown the background trees a little more out of focus. This indeed reminds monsoon. Thanks for sharing Madhav..

Amazing capture, Madhav! The pattern of mushrooms is what makes this image special. Little more contrast would have enhanced the beauty IMO. TFS

Great Habitat image Madhav, thanks for sharing. I have been hunting a lot these days to shoot mushrooms and felt happy to spot few bunches in last couple of weeks. This would have been massive joy for me and would have spent the whole day (if not more) around the same spot. I hope you have many more images with different perspectives which you will be sharing soon.

Hi Madhav,

absolutely spectacular find, never seen anything like this...abundance uninterrupted..!!!!
..like the composition of the frame too.
...wonder how this would look in Monotones...would the profusion of mushrooms stand out more..without the stronger greens in the background..???

Commentby Madhav Jois on Sun Jul 08, 2012 9:28 pm

Thank you everyone! Means a lot to me.

@ Sriharsha: This tree stump was on a slope, I was fighting hard with loose soil as my tripod constantly slipped. To add to that, leaches and red ants :) In the midst of all these, i took this picture at 15mm instead of 10. My original intention was cover more forest, but few things went wrong.

@ Neelu: I tried converting to B&W, but I couldn't really separate Mushrooms and the forest. I felt color version offered better separation between forest and mushrooms.
